Neutral density filter and the polarizer filter used together can give you some stunning results. Looking more at the samples the OP posted, there seems to be some luminance stuff along with hue and saturation. Look how bright the non-illuminated tail lights are on the station wagon. There is a glowing quality to the film. Kodachrome was different in many ways which makes replication extremely difficult. First it was slide film and used.
